ABOUT THE METHOD

Participants are offered the unique working and learning methodology developed by Mike Boxhall over the 89 years of his extraordinary life.

As he often said, the first 40 years of his life were devoted to creating chaos in all its forms. Later, all that accumulated "compost" served as fertiliser to grow into a beautiful flower, the Teaching that Mike has generously shared with his students around the world over the past 45 years.

The proposed work is based on his embodied life experience, his deep understanding of human nature, Taoist philosophy, the latest achievements of modern science, Jung's psychology, the mystical traditions of osteopathy, and many years of clinical and teaching experience in training professionals in various fields. The Empty Chair, a book by Mike Boxhall, where he outlines the basic principles of his work, has been translated into over 15 languages.

The Empty Bowl invites us to make an energetic shift from masculine to feminine, to trust the Tide, and to give ourselves and others the space in which the process of alchemical transmutation and creation can take place in the present. This level has more to do with trust and an open heart than with intellectual understanding and effort to achieve something. This is the level at which the limitless potential of Higher Knowledge, not our intellect, is at work.

THE EMBODIED SPIRIT

There are many levels of working and being; perhaps the number of them is infinite. On some levels we absolutely need and benefit from knowledge, techniques and general activity. On others, knowledge and understanding of what is going on only limit the process.

One of these levels can be called the Level of Spirit or Higher Knowledge, and it is beyond our understanding. We cannot give it a name, define it or understand how it works. We cannot "do the work" at this level.

Our interaction with it can often take the form of trying to avoid it or control what happens, but sometimes we can humble ourselves and trust its wisdom. We invite you to take a step and open up to what can happen at the level of Embodied Spirituality.

1. TRUST

It is something completely irrational, at least to our intellect. Trust cannot be explained by logic alone. If we say that we trust something because... that is no longer trust, that is rationality. The trust we are talking about is not born in the intellect, it is born in the heart. There is no 'button' that turns on our trust like a light bulb. This may sound strange but the only way to trust more is to start trusting. Just a little… Let's start by acknowledging how difficult it is. Perhaps with our help you can control less and trust more. Let's try it together.

2. HEART

This is the Centre of Creation and the Source of Wisdom. It is the Door that allows us to touch the infinite potential of the Universe that lies beyond the limited capacity of the personal intellect. The electromagnetic field emitted by the heart is 5,000 times more powerful than the radiation from our brain, and the electrical potential of the heart is 60 times greater than that of the brain. The heart is the master of all. Let's take this step together and make the quantum shift from brain to heart.

3. MASCULINE AND FEMININE

These are the two fundamental principles that underlie all that is created. The whole new-born form is imbued with and arises from the intertwining and co-operative practice of these two energies. While the masculine seeks perfection, the feminine looks for the integration of all things. While the masculine defines, the feminine accepts. While the masculine changes, the feminine listens. We invite you to open to the depths of the feminine principle, which has been so neglected and suppressed by centuries of scientific and technological progress.

4. LISTENING

We live in a time when nobody listens to anyone. Countries, governments, families, parents and children, bosses and subordinates, therapists and patients… We are all constantly trying to tell others how they should be, or to do things for them that we think will make them feel better… But the basic, fundamental human need is to be supported and listened to without evaluation, intention, judgement or advice. To be listened to is to be healed on a very deep level. To listen from the feminine principle is to listen from the heart, in the stillness of the present, without trying to change the form in which another person's story manifests. Let's try to remember how to listen to others and how to listen to ourselves.

5. SILENCE

It is being with what is happening in the present but not becoming what is happening. It's just being aware. Without any effort. Silence is the centre of who we are. When we are in Silence, we become the Mirror, in which the Universe is reflected. Silence is the path to the Source that each of us is; to the Treasure that has been buried beneath the rubble of undigested life experiences. We will dive into the depth of Silence together.

6. THE PRESENT

This is the only place where we have a chance to be proactive without becoming victims of undigested life experiences, constantly reacting to them and blaming others or life or circumstances… In our lives, we are not in the present about 95 to 98 per cent of the time. Fortunately, our body is always 'here and now'. Let's allow it to take us home.

7. FREEDOM

It's not about getting rid of our problems, our fears, our past or whatever. It's about being with it all openly and consciously. Awareness gives us the chance not to become our undigested experiences, nor our history, nor our habits. Beyond what we call good or bad, there is Space. It is much closer than we think…

8. EGO

It is a bundle of ideas, stories, illusions with which we identify ourselves. Sometimes this Ego is quite annoying… Usually it tends towards two extremes, 'how good I am' or 'how bad I am'. And sometimes it's a mixture of both. Who am I really beyond this Ego? Let's discover it together. Welcome.

9. PRACTICE

At the most delicate and gentle level, it is a mutual journey to a level of being where pathology does not exist. Let's follow a part of this Path together.
